Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

  • How long is the program?

    The duration of the program is 18 months. This includes lecture, lab, and externship components. The lecture and lab portion of the program runs for a 12 month time frame. The externship portion of the program is approximately 6 months in length.

  • What are the prerequisites?

    An Associate’s degree in a healthcare discipline or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Read more about requirements here.

  • Is there a waiting list?

    No. Allied Health Academy does not have a waiting list. However, our admission standards are competitive. If you are not offered enrollment during the academic year in which you applied, you must re-apply before the next admission closing date.

  • How many students do you take?

    The program is only offered to 10 students per session at this time. It is a vigorous process selection process to choose students with the greatest potential for successful completion of the program.

  • How much does the program cost?

    Potential students should fill out a contact form or call Allied Health Academy at 267-394-7770 regarding information on tuition for the program. A $50 application fee is required in addition to program fees.

  • Will I be provided a training site?

    Yes, Allied Health Academy will assign the student to an accredited hospital for training/externship. Student input in this selection is valued and we will make every effort to accommodate expressed schedule needs and geographic preferences.

  • What are the days and hours of the program?

    Currently, courses are held in the evening. Classes are scheduled to be held from 6:00pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday. Externships are Monday through Friday at a more flexible schedule, but will a commitment of 32 hours per week.

  • Where are your externship sites?

    Our clinical/hospital affiliates are spread over Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Our sites range from prestigious hospitals such as Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to smaller diagnostic centers, clinics, and mobile ultrasound companies.
